AMES, Iowa – No. 20 Iowa State (8-2, 0-0 Big 12) beat Central Michigan (3-6, 0-0 MAC) 82-56 on Sunday afternoon to finish the week 2-0.

Emily Ryan had a spark in the first quarter, scoring 10 points as the Cyclones cruised to a 26-point win. Audi crooks scored a game-leading 19 points and 10 rebounds for her second straight double-double Addy Brown had a total of 18 points, right behind Crooks.

Ryan did a little bit of everything, scoring a total of 12 points (71 percent shooting) while adding six steals, six assists, three rebounds and a block in 24 minutes of play. ISU totaled 13 steals, its fourth game this season with 10 or more.

How it happened

Crooks opened the contest with a layup off an offensive rebound, while Central Michigan responded with a triple on its next appearance on the court. Arianna Jackson would put the Cyclones back in the lead with a 3 of their own, and Ryan followed with a layup that led to an early CMU timeout at 7:31. Ryan would score seven straight points as ISU extended its 13-0 run to 15-3. Ryan continued to stay hot, muscled in a tough layup through contact while making her free throw, extending her run to 12. At the end of a run, ISU led 31-13.

After the Chippewa’s deficit expanded to more than 20 (38-15), CMU called another early timeout at 7:40. At halftime, the Cyclones led by 21 points, 49-28.

With the score at 53:33 and seven minutes left in the third period, Kelsey Joens sank a shot from deep and Brown followed with the Cyclones’ fourth straight shot. Iowa State had a 60-34 lead at the media timeout as Crooks drained two straight layups late in the quarter.

Entering the final quarter, ISU led 70-41. The Cyclones held the Chippewas scoreless for more than four minutes as the game clock neared zero, and the game ended with ISU leading 82-56.

Audi crooks She shot 75 percent and totaled 19 points in the contest while grabbing ten rebounds. It’s her fourth double-double this season and 12Th their career. Addy Brown She totaled 18 points on 8 of 16 from the field and added four rebounds, one assist and one steal. Emily Ryan had her second straight game with six or more steals. Ryan holds the school record with nine students fielded in 2021.

No. 20 Iowa State next takes on No. 17 Iowa in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series. The game starts at 8 p.m. and will be televised on FS1.

  • Ryan also made her only free throw attempt, extending her make streak at the line to 24. The run began last season in the NCAA Tournament against Maryland (March 22, 2024).
  • Ryan’s career free throw percentage of 87.8 percent (295-336) is second in Iowa State program history, trailing only Kelsey Bolte’s 87.9 percentage (211-240).
