A quick blast of snow is laying a thin layer of ice and snow across the Denver metro area and Colorado’s Front Range. Our blast of snow finally arrived over the Mile High City in the evening hours on Monday. In some places from the I-25 corridor into the higher foothills, amounts ranged from half an inch to 6 inches.

This could be enough to create icy areas for Tuesday morning commutes across the region. Road conditions will improve by late morning, but the day will be partly cloudy, cold and windy. With some afternoon winds reaching speeds of up to 40 to 50 mph in the mountains and foothills. Strong winds with speeds of 20 to 35 miles per hour will blow across the Denver metropolitan area during the afternoon. Winds will weaken Tuesday evening, with a warming trend of 50 degrees beginning Wednesday.
