What is your favorite holiday film?

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – It’s that time again. There’s no better cure for earlier sunsets and cooler weather than curling up under a warm blanket with a cup of hot cocoa and a holiday movie. With so many seasonal favorites, it can be difficult to choose just one film. Still, KRQE News 13 asked viewers via social media which holiday movie they liked best.

Viewers’ top answer was overwhelmingly the 1988 action thriller “Die Hard.” While it’s widely debated whether this film can actually be considered a Christmas movie, many KRQE viewers turn to John McClane and Hans Gruber for help to get some Christmas spirit. However, “Die Hard” wasn’t the only action film to make the list. One viewer’s favorite for holiday fun is 1987’s “Lethal Weapon.”

In second place are “A Christmas Story” from 1983 and “Home Alone”. These family staples have appeared on many screens over the years. Regardless of whether viewers prefer the various antics of Ralphie or Kevin, there’s no denying that both films bring plenty of holiday cheer.

Other favorites include “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “The Family Stone” and “White Christmas.”

Of course, there isn’t just one choice when it comes to holiday films. “1964’s Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is No. 1 and 1989’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a smash,” said one viewer.
