What the Giants’ surprise win means for their positioning in the 2025 NFL Draft

It just got a lot more complicated for the Giants to sign Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward as their new franchise quarterback.

The Giants snapped a record-setting 10-game losing streak and spit in the face of the narrative that they were hoping to land the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft with a 45-33 win over the Colts on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

All the Giants had to do to secure the No. 1 seed for the first time since 1965 was lose their final two games — a possibility that a boisterous portion of the fan base clung to as hope for the future.

Instead, the Giants (3-13) are now scheduled to select either No. 3 or No. 4 in the first round, pending future results.

The Giants lose tiebreakers with other 3-13 teams because they have the best depth, which leads to this record.

That left the Giants in 4th place at the end of their game and quickly jumped to 3rd while the Raiders defeated the Saints.

The Browns (3-12) would draft ahead of the Giants if they finish with the same record. Their game Sunday against the Dolphins was scheduled for 4 p.m.

So if the Raiders win and the Browns lose, the Giants would be No. 4. If the Raiders win and the Browns win, the Giants would be No. 3.

The Patriots moved up to No. 1, which could make for an interesting auction if they wanted to trade back because their quarterback of the future is already there.

The Giants would likely want to get in on this sweepstakes, a year after the Giants failed to make a trade with the Patriots to move up from No. 6 to No. 3 and draft quarterback Drake Maye.

Will the Giants be willing to trade a future first-round pick for the promotion for the right to select either Sanders or Ward after months of homework on the two quarterbacks?

The quarterback-needy Titans remain the No. 2 seed after losing the Three-Win Bowl to the Jaguars on Sunday. Whichever team lost this game would finish ahead of the Giants, while one would join the unlucky four-win group.
