Where they stand after beating the Cleveland Browns

CINCINNATI – The Bengals defeated the Browns on Sunday to improve their season record to 7-8. The win keeps their playoff hopes alive.

They didn’t get much help.

The Colts defeated the Titans and the Dolphins defeated the 49ers.

That means Cincinnati will have to lose three teams by the end of the season.

The Bengals reach the playoffs with wins over the Broncos and Steelers in the final two weeks of the regular season. Additionally, the Dolphins and Colts must lose a game in Week 18 and the Broncos must lose to the Chiefs.

The Dolphins end the season with road games against the Browns and Jets. Indianapolis ends its season with a road game against the Giants and a home game against the Jaguars.

The Bills beat the Patriots on Sunday, which helps the Bengals’ cause. Buffalo is just one game behind Kansas City and is the No. 1 seed. The Chiefs play the Broncos in Week 18. If this 18th game matters for the Chiefs, then they will play their starters in a game that Denver has to lose to the Bengals.

That means Cincinnati could use a Kansas City loss against Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
