Where will former Penn State QB Beau Pribula go as he searches for a new college in the transfer portal?

Former Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula will visit a handful of schools, including a new prospect, as he continues to search for his next college home. According to On3 transfer portal reporter Pete Nakos, Iowa, UCFAnd Indiana will host all the Pa., locals and passersby for the third year. He just came from a trip to Missouri. The Hoosiers he will face this weekend are new to the mix. Nakos previously listed the Hawkeyes, Tigers and Knights as teams to keep an eye on.

“UCF, Iowa and Missouri could all use transfer quarterbacks right now,” On3’s Sam Gillenwater writes. “The Knights are likely exploring competitions based on positional development over the last year for UCF and could now compete with their new, returning head coach, Scott Frost. The Hawkeyes are in a similar situation despite already adding Hank Brown (maroon) last week. The Tigers are still looking for their replacement for Brady Cook after having used several quarterbacks so far.

Indiana is looking for a replacement for the current starter Kurtis Rourke. He’s having a strong season in Bloomington. But he graduates whenever the Hoosiers’ college football playoffs end. The Big Ten team will therefore enter the spring of 2025 with a quarterback battle. Of course, whether this involves Pribula or not remains to be seen.

For what it’s worth, Iowa and Indiana are both on Penn State’s 2025 schedule. Depending on Pribula’s decision and how he performs during a quarterback competition at his new school, the Lions could ultimately end up against next season their former replacement player line up.

Pribula and Penn State thought it best to move on now

On Monday, Lions coach James Franklin explained the difficult decision by both sides that led to Pribula moving on before the start of the college football playoffs.

“We discussed a lot of different scenarios. And I think the more we talked about it and the more we looked into it, a few things came to light,” Franklin said. “I think, first of all, Beau felt like he was going to have a hard time finishing school, finding a place he wanted to go and continuing to prepare like a rookie like he had all year had. And the other thing was that he was under pressure to go on visits and see these places.

“Like many things, this sounds good in theory. But when you actually discuss how it’s actually going to work, that’s difficult. It’s hard to say that you’re preparing to be the starter, and when I say starter, you understand our approach at each position; Starters and backups approach it this way. Ultimately, I don’t feel like Beau felt like he could do these things to the extent that he needed to. He was at training yesterday and I can see it all distracted him.”
