‘White Lotus’ Season 3 Trailer Reveals Hotel in Thailand

Once again, HBO warmly welcomes viewers The White Lotus – but this time the luxury hotel is in Thailand.

We finally have the first trailer for the third season of writer/director Mike White’s acclaimed anthology series. After previous seasons took place in Hawaii and Italy, this next episode takes the tourist characters to Southeast Asia in the hopes of relieving some of their stress through meditation, drugs and food – although the latter in particular will take some getting used to for these newcomers.

“Gluten-free rice and coconut balls? What are we, a damn fat farm?” Rick Hatchett (Walton Goggins) angrily asks his younger girlfriend Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood).

Rick is described as “a tough man with a chip on his shoulder,” while Chelsea is a “free spirit.” Her visit to Thailand seems designed to relieve stress, but that’s always a double-edged sword, as this trailer makes clear.

“Everyone runs from pain toward pleasure,” says another character. “But they get there only to feel more pain.”

Other new characters joining the series this season include Kate (Leslie Bibb), Laurie (Carrie Coon) and Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan), three longtime friends who are on a girls’ trip together after dating for a while hadn’t seen. Then there is the Ratliff family: wealthy businessman and father Timothy (Jason Isaacs), mother Victoria (Parker Posey) and children Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger), Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola).

Meanwhile, Natasha Rothwell reprises her season 1 role as Belinda, a spa manager from the White Lotus location in Hawaii who is visiting the Thailand franchise as part of an “exchange program.” She feels like “something good is going to come out of this” when she makes eye contact with a handsome hotel employee.

Viewers may even learn more about how the White Lotus organization works as Lek Patravadi will play Sritala. one of the owners of the White Lotus and the “visionary” behind its wellness program.

But as we know from previous seasons, The White Lotus is not just fun and relaxation. There’s always at least one death, and in this trailer we see someone waving a gun, a snake preparing to attack, and a body being rolled on a stretcher, among other ominous images. Remember White said it before Weekly entertainment that season 3 will be “longer, bigger, crazier” than previous seasons.

“What the hell is this?” someone asks near the end.
