Who turned (spoiler) into a weapon?

Who turned (spoiler) into a weapon?

Dune: Prophecy Finale aired and Season 1 ended after raising more questions than it answered. Perhaps most widely known is the identity of the mysterious enemy who turned Desmond Hart (Travis Fimmel) into a biological weapon.

In Episode 6, titled “The High-Handed Enemy,” Valya (Emily Watson) puts her plans into action to dethrone Javicco Corrino and replace him with his daughter. Meanwhile, after discovering that Desmond is her son, Tula (Emma Canning) tries to find a cure for the viral nightmares – with disastrous results.

Who implanted the thinking machine and the virus into Desmond Hart in Dune: Prophecy?

The finale of Dune: Prophecy doesn’t explicitly reveal who installed the thinking machine in Desmond Hart and turned him into a bioweapon. At the beginning of Episode 6, Tula discusses the nightmares with Nazir, a member of the sorority who has extensive medical training. They conclude that it is a virus that feeds on fear. However, Nazir dies while trying to create an antiviral cure using Prana-Bindu.

Towards the end of the episode, Valya has a vivid vision of Desmond after her confrontation with Desmond. She learns part of what happened to him, but the important aspects of the secret remain hidden from her. Valya discovers that a hooded figure has used a thinking machine to implant smaller thinking machines into Desmond’s eye, turning him into a carrier of the virus.

Since Valya only sees the silhouette of the hooded person, her identity, motives, and even gender are unknown. Maybe it’s someone who deeply despises the sisterhood and wants to destroy it through Desmond. It could possibly be someone the Order knew during the war against the Thinking Machines. This person is likely seeking revenge and wants to overthrow the Sisterhood, believing the Order has wronged them.

Alternatively, it could be someone who has a personal vendetta against Tula and Valya and wants to thwart their plans to control the empire. A surviving Atreides from the massacre that Tula committed is a possibility, but that is unlikely.

Furthermore, it is safe to assume that this person knew Desmond’s potential, but it is unclear whether he knew the truth about his parentage. With the second season officially greenlit last week, this is one of the mysteries that fans would hope to see covered in the second chapter.
