Why the Raiders’ loss to KC was their biggest win of the year

Why the Raiders’ loss to KC was their biggest win of the year

To say that the Las Vegas Raiders had a disappointing season would be an understatement. They came into this season with high hopes, but saw them go out the window right from the start.

Las Vegas made numerous changes this offseason to improve their team for this season. General manager Tom Telesco added free agent defensive lineman Christian Wilkins to the roster earlier this offseason to solidify the Raiders’ defensive line.

The Raiders were expected to field one of the best defenses in the National Football League this season. However, these expectations were short-lived as the Raiders’ defense lost numerous players who were crucial to their chances of success.

Most are injuries Their defense, inconsistent play at the quarterback position and an offensive coordinator who wasn’t a good fit with the team cost the Raiders several games this season. However, all of these things could have been a blessing for the Raiders in the long run.

The Raiders are 2-10 this season and will likely have one of the top picks of the season upcoming NFL Draft. This puts the Raiders in a position to potentially find their next quarterback who can help them get to the next level.

A win against Kansas City would have ruined that plan as it would have cost the Raiders several spots in the draft. A win against the Chiefs could have set the Raiders back years or draft assets if they fell down the draft order and decided to trade up for a quarterback.

In a narrow loss to the Chiefs, the Raiders showed that they have what it takes to compete with almost any NFL team when they’re firing on all cylinders. However, their narrow loss also showed how much depth the Raiders need to add to their roster this offseason.

If a Raiders team that’s missing nearly half of its defense can come close to beating the Chiefs, it has every reason to be excited about its future.

On paper the Raiders lost, but in reality they lost everything they could have reasonably requested as an organization.

Although they may not want to admit it, a great road performance against the Chiefs without damaging their draft position and a shot at their future quarterback made their loss to the Chiefs their loss most significant victory of the season.
