The last Monday of 2024 will have an active day. There is a high wind warning and a red flag warning. The high wind warning is in effect Monday morning through Monday afternoon due to winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 60 mph. A red flag warning is in effect from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. due to gusty winds and low humidity. It’s best not to burn anything outside because if a fire starts, it will spread quickly. Both warnings affect those along the I-25 corridor and the Eastern Plains.

If you’re partying in the highlands, lows will be below zero and in the single digits. We expect a dry night for most of southern Colorado, with a slight chance of snow showers in the central mountains.

On New Year’s Day, highs will remain in the 30s to 40s along the I-25 corridor and across the Eastern Plains, while highs in the teens and 20s remain in the highland region.

To close out the holiday week, temperatures will climb back into the upper 40s and 50s on Thursday, with highs primarily rising to the upper 50s on Friday in southern Colorado.
