Wisconsin volleyball beats Texas A&M to reach NCAA regional finals

In September, the Wisconsin volleyball team scored a three-set victory over Texas A&M at the UW Field House, handing the Aggies their first loss of the season.

On Friday, the Badgers handed A&M its final loss of 2024, even if it wasn’t easy.

Wisconsin needed five sets and more than two hours to claim a 25-21, 18-25, 25-19, 23-25, 15-13 victory over the Aggies in an NCAA regional semifinal at the Bob Devaney Center in Lincoln, Nebraska to achieve.

With the win, Wisconsin (26-3) advanced to its eighth straight regional final, scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. The Badgers will face the winner of the Nebraska-Dayton semifinal later Friday night.

Senior outside attacker Sarah Franklin finished the game with 21 kills in 66 swings. Her final kill came on match point, capping a fifth set in which Wisconsin never trailed with a 5-4 lead.

A 5-0 run that included two kills from senior Julia Orzol and a kill from Devyn Robinson gave the Badgers an 11-6 lead and just enough cushion to prevent an Aggies comeback. They pulled within one point twice before Wisconsin secured the win.
