Wolverines battle No. 11 Wisconsin to open early Big Ten play

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Fresh off winning the 2024 Fort Myers Tip-Off title, the University of Michigan basketball team travels to Madison, Wis., on Tuesday (Dec. 3) for an early Big Ten battle with undefeated (8-0) and No .11 Wisconsin at Kohl Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. CST on Peacock (NBC Sports).

• Michigan has won five straight games before the Big Ten’s first home-and-away series in December: at No. 15 Wisconsin (Dec. 3) at the Kohl Center before returning to Ann Arbor for a test with Iowa (Dec. 3 ). 7) at the Crisler Center.

• Michigan has won four of its last six meetings and is 99-75 all-time against Wisconsin. The Wolverines have a 36-48 record in Madison. Michigan’s last win at the Kohl Center was a 67-59 victory on February 14, 2021 during the COVID-19 altered schedule.

• With three neutral games in the books, Michigan’s game at Wisconsin will be its first “real” road game. Michigan is in the middle of a five-of-six road stretch. In fact, the Wolverines will be away from Ann Arbor for seven of their next 10 games.

• With a 78-53 victory over No. 22 Xavier, Michigan won the 2024 Fort Myers Tip-Off. The holiday tournament title was Michigan’s first in five years, following Battle 4 Atlantis in 2019. Michigan defeated Virginia Tech in the first Fort Myers Tip -Off with 75-63. MVP Danny Wolf joined in Roddy Gayle Jr. on the All-Tournament Team.

• Michigan’s 78-53 victory over No. 22 Xavier was its first win over a ranked opponent Dusty May as head coach of the Wolverines. Overall, he is 6-2 against ranked opponents.

• Wolf, who is averaging a team-high 10.9 points and 9.9 rebounds, has a team-high three double-doubles: Cleveland State (19 points, 13 rebounds), TCU (14 points, 14 rebounds) and No. 22 Xavier (20 points, 14 rebounds).

Vladislav Goldin has had two double-digit scoring games in his last three games. He scored his first goal at Michigan with 12 points against Tarleton State before scoring a season-best 18 in a win over No. 22 Xavier. In summary, Goldin scored 38 of his 64 total points during this three-game span.

• Speaking of the Xavier game, Goldin went for it and made his first career three-pointer. He had not attempted a three-point field goal in 123 games before scoring his first goal against the Musketeers.

Tre Donaldson leads Michigan with 28 assists (4.0 apg) and Gayle has 21 (3.0 apg). Wolf is right behind the duo with 20 assists (2.9 apg).
