Zach Charbonnet continues to be an underrated member of the Seahawks offense

Seattle Seahawks sophomore running back Zach Charbonnet entered Sunday’s Week 13 game against the New York Jets having scored five touchdowns this season, the second-most among all Seahawks skill players. Charbonnet has been extremely useful for Ryan Grubb’s offense this campaign. He made another big impact with the come-from-behind win over the Jets.

The Seahawks trailed 14-0 at one point. At the start of the fourth quarter the deficit was 21-16, but a Jason Myers field goal cut the Jets’ lead to 21-19. On the next possession, Grubb’s offense went on a 12-play drive that began with a Charbonnet run. A horse collar tackle later extended the drive and Charbonnet ended Seattle’s comeback effort with an eight-yard touchdown run.

Charbonnet’s game-winning TD was featured in Brian Baldinger’s social media-famous “Baldy’s Breakdowns.”

Charbonnet has now passed for 266 yards and five touchdowns on 75 carries this campaign. He was a useful resource behind No. 1 running back Kenneth Walker III. Charbonnet also added 29 receptions for 204 yards and an additional touchdown to his offensive totals.

Charbonnet scored just four carries against the Jets but averaged 7.0 yards per carry, his second-best average of the season. Walker was his typical workhorse, but struggled to consistently find running space, gaining 49 yards on 16 carries (3.1 YPC). Charbonnet will continue to maximize his opportunities.
